LONDON, June 9 (Reuters) - Ireland flanker Stephen Ferris will be replaced by Welshman Ryan Jones for the rest of the British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa after injuring his knee, coach Ian McGeechan said on Tuesday.
A scan confirmed that Ferris had torn a ligament in his right knee during training on Monday and he will need a four to six week recovery period.
“Ryan is on the standby reserve list and of course has been playing for Wales over the last few weeks in the USA and Canada,” McGeechan said in a statement.
